Mission statement

Art From Inside’s mission is to reduce recidivism by bridging the gap between adults in custody and the communities they aim to heal through the art they’ve created.  At the same time, we provide adults in custody lucrative opportunities that will better prepare them for a successful transition back into the free world.

The Team

Art From Inside was founded by a couple of passionate individuals who recognized the transformative power of art and sought to provide incarcerated artists with a platform to showcase their talents and promote rehabilitation through creative expression.

Erika Goodman

With an open mind and a passion for people, I lead Art From Inside with a focus on social impact and reducing recidivism.  Everyone has a story and it has been an incredible journey to learn about each artist.

My name is Justin

I have been incarcerated since the age 17, at the time of writing this I have served 9 years of my sentence.  I have seen a number of ups and downs, the living conditions of 8 correctional facilities and a plethora of individuals come and go (sadly, I have seen many come back).  The one thing I have not seen, is a lack of talent, drive and ability from the men I have served time around.  From athletes, to teachers, musicians, to artists.  Being around so much potential has inspired me to help provide an outlet in the ways I can for them, by allowing the world to witness the skills they have honed in on over the years.  At the same time, I want to provide them opportunities to support the possibility of a smooth transition back into their community upon release.  Recidivism.
